SuperTato to the Rescue

4 year old L made this today. He hadn’t been well, so I had to keep him home from school. He was feeling so miserable that we decided to make something together to cheer him up. Hope this brightens up your day as much as it did ours.

P.S. If you’re wondering who L might be, he is the child on our blogs and vlogs formerly known as “Thumper”. 🙂

Boxing Day bonus: Through the eyes of a toddler

Amongst all the footage I had for the Advent 2017 daily vlogs, I found that 2 year old Thumper had helped himself to my GoPro camera (I occasionally allowed J and Little E to contribute to the main videos) and it was so interesting to see his point of view!

So…I decided to edit his little videos together.

I didn’t change the camera speed at all, so what you see on the video is exactly what Thumper is looking at. He jiggles the camera about whilst he’s running around the place (he never walks), but I love it that when he’s focussed on something, he holds the camera completely still. Usually this happens when he’s looking at people, which just shows you what a social little character he is.

Advent 2017: Day 21

We got to spend the day at the Aged Ps place today making lots of gingerbread – in time for tomorrow’s Christmas party! Also, we met a Noodle Ninja.

Advent 2017: Day 20

I managed to convince the kids to put their toy collection through the Konmari wringer – and we managed to reduce it by half!

We donated some of the toys to the Salvation Army and I’ll bring the rest to donate to the MINDS charity shop as well as the Dignity Mama Bookstore.

Advent 2017: Day 19

We had a quiet day today, just doing some watercolour painting and letter writing.

Advent 2017: Day 13

I’m a little poorly today, so the Barn Owl stayed home to help me with the kids. I’ll be better with a little rest.

Advent 2017: Day 9

Thumper is still recuperating and the Barn Owl is now ill, so the both of them had to stay home today whilst the rest of us attended the first Christmas party of the season.

The electronics kit that the kids are playing with is called Snap Circuits‘, and was a gift to us a few Christmases ago. It’s really cool toy which gives the kids safe boundaries within which to design and build electrical circuits, and keeps the kids occupied for hours! Even 2 year old Thumper is now able to build a simple circuit to power a spinning toy. (Buyer’s note: I think this was probably from a local toy store called Growing Fun, but you can get it off Amazon.)

We also did an origami Joseph doll as part of our ‘Truth in the Tinsel’ advent craft of the day. It’s the same one from the origami nativity that I made on Day 6.

Advent 2017: Day 8

Thumper is a little bit under the weather today, so it’s been rather quiet around here. He perked up after a little rest, so we still managed to make it a productive day.

Advent 2017: Day 7

I have written about volunteering with The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift Project before and this year was the first time that we were delivery volunteers with our own BB boy!

J joined The Boys’ Brigade at the start of the year and I cannot tell you how proud I was to see him in his full uniform, valiantly helping to carry the heavy bags of groceries to the Share-a-Gift beneficiaries.

Sadly, this year the donation drive has been a little bit slower than other years – so if you are at the supermarket and see the Boys in Blue, do stop by and see what items they need! As of this post, they need more 2L bottles of cooking oil, halal tinned foodstuffs, condiments (like soy sauce and ketchup) and instant noodles!

By the way, the board game that we are playing is called ‘Ravensburger Labyrinth‘ and it was a gift from the Outlaws last year. We still love it – and sometimes Thumper gets in on the action too! (Buyers note: You can get this game from My First Games or from Amazon)

Advent 2017: Day 6

Wednesday is always one of our busiest days in the week!

I got the instructions for the paper origami Nativity scene from a Christmas greeting card post on Zsuzsi Origami.
